
Recently, the Mentoring & Adult Relationships (MAR) team was invited to participate in this year's BMore Me Speaker Series Event at Coppin State University to engage with middle school students from across City Schools. MAR hosted an interactive workshop-- Finding Your Tribe: How Mentoring Shapes Your High School Experience, to help students understand the importance of mentorship in their high school journey and grow in their sense of self-advocacy. By the end of the workshop, many students felt confident and prepared to identify and connect with mentors upon beginning their high school. Katherine Johnson Global Academy celebrated the opening of a new STEM Center funded by the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation and the University of Maryland Medical Systems with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

City Schools, along with hundreds of other school districts in Maryland and across the nation, filed a pathbreaking lawsuit against Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, and Facebook. City Schools’ lawsuit aims to hold these social media platforms accountable for designing unsafe and addictive platforms that harm student health and well-being. High school credit recovery for 2024-25 starts Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Students who wish to register should contact their school counselor to discuss options and register. The last day to register for Quarter 2 programs is Monday, November 4. The next opportunity for credit recovery will not be until the third quarter.
