Baltimore City Public Schools celebrates Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (Poly) and Baltimore City College (City College) for earning recognition among Maryland’s top 25 high schools in the U.S. News and World Report’s Best High Schools list. 

Baltimore Polytechnic Institute is ranked No. 10 statewide, with a national ranking of No. 498, and an overall score of 97.22 out of 100. 

  • Eighty-one percent of students took at least one Advanced Placement exam, providing the opportunity to earn college credit. 

  • Another school highlight is the reading proficiency rate of 88%. 

  • The graduation rate is at or above 95%. 

Baltimore City College is ranked No. 23 in Maryland, with a national rank of No. 947, and an overall score of 94.71 out of 100. 

  • Additionally, 85% of students took at least one Advanced Placement exam, and more than 95% of students graduated from high school.

The U.S. News and World Report's Best High Schools rankings include data on more than 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. The overall score is based on six ranking indicators: college readiness, breadth of college curriculum, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, performance of underserved students, and graduation rate.
