Earlier today, there was a smell of gas reported. We evacuated the building out of an abundance of precaution. BGE turned off the gas and students returned to class. BGE will be here to repair the issue after school so activities are cancelled.

Today, we became aware that there was an incident in our school's neighborhood.
School staff responded immediately by contacting Baltimore City School Police. The school was put on lockdown to ensure safety. All afterschool clubs and activities were canceled today. If you have questions, please contact me.

Dear Parents or Guardians,
Today, your child received a letter with the specific shots that they still need updated. Please check with your child for that letter.
Immunizations (also called vaccinations and sometimes “shots”) are an important part of keeping your child healthy. State law also requires them for students in PreK through 12th grade.
Our records show that your child may not have had their immunizations. or that these immunizations will soon be out of date:
Meningococcal (MCV4)
Tetanus, Diphtheria and Acellular Pertussis [Tdap] (Dtap)
MMR
Varicella
HepB
Polio
If your child has had these immunizations, please make sure we have an updated copy of the immunization record as soon as possible.
If your child does not have proof of the required immunizations, please provide an appointment slip from the doctor’s office or the health department, or a written statement from you giving the date that the child will receive the immunization(s).
Your doctor or clinic can give your child the necessary immunizations. The Baltimore City Health Department (410-396-4454) can also give you information about locations for immunizations.

Walter P. Carter was evacuated at 10:30 a.m. due to a report of a gas smell in the cafeteria. The fire dept arrived and declared the building safe for return at 10:45 a.m. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
