Wildcat Families,
We need your voice!
Our goal is to reach 200 completed responses on the City Schools Annual Family Survey. This is more than a number. It is how we advocate for our students, strengthen our school, and ensure your voice is reflected in our decisions.
Here’s the incentive:
If we reach 200 responses, every student will earn a dress down day on May 15th!
It takes just a few minutes to complete, but the impact lasts all year.

Reports are coming home today! As you review your child’s Quarter 3
report card, I encourage you to take a few moments to sit together and
reflect on their progress. This is a powerful time in the school year. It
allows us to celebrate growth while also refocusing for a strong finish.
Every child’s journey is unique. Some students are building strong
momentum, while others may need an extra push. Wherever your child is
right now, please know that there is still time to grow, improve, and finish
the year successfully. What matters most is the commitment we make
moving forward.
I encourage you to talk with your child about their goals for this final quarter. Ask them what they
are proud of and what they want to improve. Your encouragement and partnership truly make a
difference in how they show up each day.
As a school community, we remain focused on strong effort, daily attendance, and maximizing every
moment of learning. Our staff is committed to supporting each student, and we are here to partner
with you every step of the way.
If you have any questions or would like additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out to
your child’s teacher or our main office.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. It is an honor to serve your family and our
Wildcat community.

Today, we were made aware of a suspicious individual reported to be carrying a weapon on our school’s campus. Out of an abundance of caution, school staff immediately contacted Baltimore City School Police and placed the school on lockdown.
Baltimore City School Police responded promptly and worked with school administration to clear the campus and surrounding area. Once officers confirmed that the school was secure, the lockdown was lifted.
Police remained in the neighborhood for a period of time to ensure continued safety as our school returned to normal operations.
At Walter P. Carter Elementary/Middle School, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority. We remain committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all members of our school community. All afterschool clubs and activities will continue as scheduled today.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly at 410-396-6271 or jneldridge@bcps.k12.md.us.
Thank you for your continued support of our Wildcat community.
