Now in his tenth year of education, we proudly welcome Dr. Damian Williams as principal of Sandtown-Winchester Achievement Academy. Throughout his career, Dr. Williams first served as a teacher, then instructional coach, followed by assistant principal.
His leadership centers on building a culture of achievement where students are challenged, supported, and celebrated.
Dr. Williams' leadership style is embodied in the quote: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
As a "warm demander," he builds strong relationships while maintaining high expectations. "Students and staff should know that I care about them, believe in them, and will challenge them to grow," explained Dr. Williams.
Dr. Williams is most looking forward to seeing the growth of students, staff, and the school community. I want our students to experience strong instruction, feel a genuine sense of belonging, and celebrate their progress.
For him, leadership is about developing people, building strong systems, and keeping students at the center of every decision. "My goal is to create the conditions for both adults and students to grow, succeed, and achieve at high levels," he shared.
