For the 2026-27 school year, eligible Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools) students will use the CharmPass app to ride MTA Local Bus, Light Rail, and Metro Subway services at no cost.

Getting Started

Families are encouraged to create a CharmPass account before the start of school, so students are ready to ride on day one. Students should register using their Baltimore City Public Schools email address. Step-by-step instructions and support will be available soon through a dedicated website.

Fare Requirements & Policies

·       Your Free Digital Pass: Students ages 13 and older are encouraged to use the CharmPass app for a seamless experience.

·       Alternative Options: Students who do not have access to a mobile device may present their City Schools student ID or a valid MTA S-Pass (if eligible) when riding MTA services.

·       Younger Students: Students aged 12 and younger ride free and do not need to present a ticket, pass, or ID.

·       Pass Usage & Conduct: Student transit passes are non-transferable. Improper use or sharing of a pass may result in the loss of transit benefits. Additionally, all students must adhere to the MTA Rider Code of Conduct while riding transit services.

Data Privacy & Sharing

·       By creating a CharmPass account, parents and guardians authorize and consent to Baltimore City Public Schools and MTA to share limited student information each month to verify eligibility for free student transit.
