Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools) is responding to federal immigration enforcement activity that occurred at Commodore John Rodgers Elementary/Middle School.

City Schools opposes immigration enforcement actions on school grounds. Schools should be places of learning, belonging, and opportunity where students and families feel safe, welcomed, and supported.

We are deeply disappointed that this activity occurred and remain committed to advocating for the safety, dignity, and well-being of every student and family in our care. City Schools leaders are in direct communication with local ICE officials, while our elected partners are engaging with state ICE leadership. Together, we are working to secure assurances that enforcement activity of this nature does not occur on our school campuses again.

Support for Students and Families

If you or your child is concerned, anxious, or in need of support, we encourage you to contact your school's community school coordinator or principal. Community school coordinators or school leaders can help connect families to counseling, community resources, legal assistance referrals, and other services that may be needed during this time.

We also encourage families to visit City Schools' immigration resources webpage at www.baltimorecityschools.org/page/immigration for information, including Know Your Rights materials and additional support resources.
