The Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners (Board) is excited to provide an updated timeline on the search for the Baltimore City Public Schools’ next chief executive officer (CEO). Through the Board’s work with Alma Advisory Group, the Board has developed targets for its recruitment plan through 2026. Most immediately, and throughout this summer, the Board will begin designing a plan to collect stakeholder input. The potential for public outreach will commence over the summer and into the fall, during which the Board will gather data and insights from parents, students, staff, and community members. Alma will leverage all information collected to guide the Board in developing a candidate profile for its next CEO. It is anticipated that the Board will unveil the candidate profile and post the position description soon after.
As previously mentioned, the Board will continue to update the timeline as specific details become available. Information regarding the Community Forums will be announced publicly. The new CEO is slated to begin on July 1, 2026.
