Collington Square student participate in a Harambee circle as an engagement activity

Recently we visited Collington Square Elementary/Middle School to take part in their weekly "Harambee" celebration, designed to foster community connections and promote school attendance.

The word Harambee comes from the West African Swahili language, meaning 'to pull together'. There are many cultural expressions that reinforce this value of collaboration, one of them being community dance. Watch the video to learn about why Principal Tiffany Williams was inspired to utilize this ancient practice to cultivate her school community - in Engilsh and in Spanish.
