Bluford Drew Jemison STEM Academy West is the only all-male middle/high school in Baltimore City. The vision of BDJ is to build strong, positive relationships with male scholars so they can achieve independence, confidence, and academic knowledge as they pursue college and career opportunities. BDJ prides itself on exposing our male scholars to all aspects of STEM and preparing them to pursue continued education and careers in the STEM field.

Annual Review Recommendation:

On January 23, 2024, the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners voted to approve the recommendation to combine Bluford Drew Jemison STEM Academy West’s (BDJ) high school program with Augusta Fells Savage Institute for Visual Art High School and close BDJ in summer 2024. This means the BDJ middle school program will sunset at the end of this school year, and BDJ middle school students and their families will be supported through a personalized placement process to find another middle school better able to meet student needs for the 2024-25 school year. To learn about these decisions or the decisions affecting other schools, as well as information about the final report and appeal process, please visit the City Schools Annual Review of Schools webpage.
