Founded in 2002, KIPP Baltimore operates two tuition-free, open enrollment, high-performing public charter schools, currently serving approximately 1,500 students from kindergarten through fifth (KIPP Harmony Academy) and sixth through eighth grades (KIPP Ujima Village Academy). Our signature KIPP Forward program supports our alumni as they proceed through high school, college, and other postsecondary paths to career success. KIPP Baltimore is part of the national KIPP network of 270 schools, educating more than 100,000 students across the United States. Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose – college, career, and beyond – so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.

Annual Review Recommendations

On January 23, 2024, the Baltimore City School of Board Commissioners voted on recommendations as part of the review of the operator of this school. The process by which operator schools are reviewed is called operator renewal and is part of the district’s Annual Review of Schools. Operator contracts can be renewed for three, five, or eight-year terms or could be recommended for non-renewal and possible closure. Based on this review, the school operator was recommended to continue its contract for a three-year team, and the Board voted to approve this recommendation. To learn about this decision or decisions for others, please visit the City Schools Annual Review of Schools webpage.
