Candidates are being sought to serve on the Ethics Panel for City Schools, which was established as the result of the passage of the BCA: Code of Ethics Policy by the Board of School Commissioners. The Ethics Panel consists of five members appointed by the Board Chair. Those interested in joining the Ethics Panel should apply by Friday, December 15, 2023. As established under the Code of Ethics, the Ethics Panel interprets the code and advises those who are subject to it. It is preferred that members of the Ethics Panel be residents of or employed by an agency located in the City of Baltimore and that they maintain residency and employment for the duration of their appointment. Members are appointed by the chair of the Board of School Commissioners for overlapping terms of three years (or until successors are appointed). 

The Baltimore City Ethics Panel (the Panel) will meet in public session on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm. This meeting will be held on a conference call at +14439611488 Conference ID: # 639147434.
Members of the public joining the call are asked to mute their phones and turn their videos off upon joining. Anyone joining who fails to do so may be muted by the call moderator or removed from the call.
The Panel may convene in a closed session, in accordance with the Maryland Annotated Code, General Provisions Article, §3-101. Before any closed meeting is convened, the presiding officer will publicly identify the section or sections of the Open Meetings Act authorizing the closed meeting.

The Panel will go into closed session via conference call immediately after opening the meeting at 5:30 PM to discuss administrative and personnel matters in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. Members of the public can observe the meeting opening at the conference call number above.
