Big SHOUT OUT to Neida Y. Serrano Tovillas, Grade 9, Frederick Douglass High School, and to Ms. Hussain. Neida’s artwork has been selected as a finalist this year by Courting Art Baltimore. Each year, the Courting Art project selects a handful of artworks produced by City Schools students to hang in the Eastern District Courthouse. The art spends one year in the main lobby for all to see, then gets moved to a permanent home somewhere else in the Courthouse. The Judge behind the project thought it would be a great way to make the Courthouse more family-friendly and appealing, as many of the people who pass through the doors are in times of struggle and crisis.
The finalists all receive gifts of art supplies, and the winners get scholarship money (and a chosen few get tuition to MICA for a special program). Please cheer on Neida if you see her.
