Fort Worthington Elementary/Middle School

#85

Fort Worthington Elementary/Middle School, affectionately known as The Fort, boasts an entirely new building with sustainable infrastructure - including flexible, adaptive space; interactive, collaborative learning spaces; and features such as a community center, full-service health suite, library/media center, maker space, gymnasium with a rubberized floor for roller skating, and outdoor learning areas. The school has also adopted a lot across from the school, which serves as a community garden for the entire neighborhood with plots for families to grow their food. Exemplifying a vision of academic excellence, the school is implementing project-based learning in alignment with the Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards in addition to Wit & Wisdom, City Schools’ adopted curriculum in English language arts. In support of City Schools’ student wholeness initiative, The Fort is a restorative practices intensive site focusing on the social and emotional wellness of all scholars and their families.

Fort Worthington is located in the Berea Community, serving Bilingual learners and African American scholars. It facilitates 700 scholars and offers a host of after-school programs, such as Volleyball, Softball, Basketball, Flag Football, Cheerleading, FCPA, and Robotics. Our teachers are equipped with the knowledge and pedagogy to serve our scholars at a high level.
