Dear Wildcat Parents and Guardians,
Today, we were made aware of a suspicious individual reported to be carrying a weapon on our school’s campus. Out of an abundance of caution, school staff immediately contacted Baltimore City School Police and placed the school on lockdown.
Baltimore City School Police responded promptly and worked with school administration to clear the campus and surrounding area. Once officers confirmed that the school was secure, the lockdown was lifted.
Police remained in the neighborhood for a period of time to ensure continued safety as our school returned to normal operations.
At Walter P. Carter Elementary/Middle School, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority. We remain committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all members of our school community. All afterschool clubs and activities will continue as scheduled today.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly at 410-396-6271 or jneldridge@bcps.k12.md.us.
Thank you for your continued support of our Wildcat community.
