Teacher of the Year nominations are open!
Do you know an exceptional teacher who inspires excellence and fosters a sense of community in the classroom? Students, families, and staff can nominate a candidate for 2026 City Schools Teacher of the Year by Friday, February 6.
Please nominate a teacher who meets these requirements:
Will complete at least five years of teaching experience by June 2026
Is currently a full-time classroom, resource, or media teacher who spends most of their time teaching
Demonstrates leadership
Plans to remain in the classroom for the 2026-27 school year
Serves as a role model in their school and community
Embodies strong communication skills (oral and written)
Has a rating of "effective" or "highly effective" for the past three evaluations
Nominated teachers will be invited to apply for the City Schools Teacher of the Year award. Our 2026 Teacher of the Year will compete to serve as the 2026 Maryland Teacher of the Year.
