Dear Mergenthaler High School family, It is both an honor and a pleasure to address you as the new Principal of Mervo High School. As we embark on this new chapter together, I want to take a moment to express my excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead. We find ourselves in a time of immense change and challenge in the field of education. However, it is within these moments that we have the greatest potential to engage learners, the community, and each other. Together, we will continue to set the standard for excellence, innovation, and real-world application in vocational education at Mervo High School. I am humbled and grateful for the chance to be a part of the Mervo High School educational family. With over 20 years of experience as an educator in Baltimore City, I have had the privilege of working with high school students and witnessing their growth and potential firsthand. From my beginnings as a middle school Language Arts teacher to my tenure as an English teacher at Mervo, I have always been passionate about instilling a love for learning and literacy in my students. For the past decade, I have served as an administrator, focusing on providing teachers with the necessary tools and resources to expand educational opportunities in a safe learning environment. As the instructional leader of Mervo High School, I am wholeheartedly committed to sharing my passion for helping students realize their full potential through rigorous instruction and a supportive school community. I firmly believe that a team approach is crucial in building and maintaining a safe learning environment that cultivates critical thinkers and change agents. In the coming weeks, I am eager to meet with each of you to discuss your expectations and aspirations for Mervo High School. Together, we will work towards redefining and reimagining what excellence is at Mervo. Thank you for your support and collaboration as we embark on this exciting journey together! Best Regards, Jermaine Skinner, Principal
