For Dr. Frenesi A. Mangonon, leadership is deeply personal. Her first coach and mentor was her mother, a retired Baltimore City Public Schools special educator, who encouraged her to pursue a career in education. Her mother helped her write her first lesson plan and prepare for her first teaching interview. At age 22, Dr. Mangonon became a teacher—and she has carried her mother’s wisdom with her ever since: “Nothing is hard when done with love” and “If there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Those words continue to guide her as she begins her new role as principal at Lois T. Murray. Dr. Mangonon is committed to ensuring every student receives the support and educational experience they deserve while empowering families to be informed, confident partners in their children’s education.
“I see myself not just as an administrator, but as a genuine partner,” she says. “I want to work alongside families, staff and students to create the best possible experiences for our young people.”
For Dr. Mangonon, leadership is about more than a title—it is about inspiring others, building trust and helping people understand not only what needs to be done, but why it matters.
