Schools may close for the day, open late, or dismiss early if bad weather or an emergency makes it unsafe to travel to and from school. Individual schools may also close due to heating, cooling, electrical, or other maintenance issues. Full-day closings and delayed openings are announced as close to 5 a.m. as possible, and early dismissals are announced as soon as the decision is made.
Inclement weather announcements are shared only through official City Schools communication channels, so families and staff should look for messages directly from the Office of Communications for accurate and up-to-date information or check the following:
