Effective communication is essential to building trusting relationships and engaging families so they can support their students’ academic and social success.

To help school-level staff communicate effectively with multilingual families, the Office of Communications has streamlined all existing Language Access guidance on the website and provided an English Language Development toolkit.

City Schools’ Board-approved vendors for translation and interpretation have also been updated. Please review these resources on our website and stay tuned for additional guidance, tools, and role-specific training to help you communicate with multilingual families, coming soon from the Office of Communications.

Similar guidance for Central Office staff will also be forthcoming soon. In the meantime, if you are a Central Office staff member who supports school-based staff, please review these resources to assist your school-based staff with implementing Language Access in their schools.
