Greetings and welcome GHEMS Families,
To the start of the 23-24 SY school year. We are so excited to welcome your scholar and you to GHEMS. The first day of school is an exciting time and many scholars are new to GHEMS our school day begins at 9 am and concludes at 3:40 pm. Please note this is our Opening Day procedures for this school year:
Pre-Kindergarten and kindergarten students will meet in the courtyard
We will have a photo area in the event that you wish to take pictures
1st - 6th grade will line up on the field
7th - 8th grade scholars will line up on the blacktop
Staff Members will also be around to support families in completing the new City Schools Verification Process.
To allow for a smooth and safe transition into the building we are asking that parents not escort students into the building or class. Our Back to School Night will be an opportunity to tour the building and meet your scholar’s teacher. Our Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 14 from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.
Families, please remember GHEMS Cell phone policy. Cell phones are collected in the morning placed in the school safe, and returned at the end of the school day.
Lastly, families and students who left their district-issued laptop devices at GHEMS will be returned this week. Students will need to keep their devices at home to work asynchronously to complete homework and various assignments. If your scholar is still in need of a device guardians will have to go to North Ave to pick up a device.
