No time like the new year to update your information and preferences! IMPORTANT: City Schools may share “directory information” with outside organizations. A federal law (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA) defines this as information that is generally not considered an invasion of privacy to release. City Schools designates a student’s name, address, telephone number, current school name, photographic image, participation in activities and sports, height and weight (if on an athletic team), years in attendance at City Schools, grade level, major field of study, degrees, honors and awards received, and most recent educational institution attended prior to City Schools as directory information.
If you DO NOT want your directory information released to some or all outside organizations, you must opt out as part of the Annual Student Verification (https://www.baltimorecityschools.org/page/annual-student-verification) process at the start of the school year or fill out the 'Media Opt-Out' form. "Dear Benjamin Franklin High School Parents and Guardians,
I am writing to make sure you hear directly from me about an incident that impacted our school community today.
A student eloped school during instructional time. The student was subsequently injured off campus. They returned to the campus for emergency medical services. We immediately called for medical support and informed their parents of the incident. I placed the building on lock down to support Emergency Medical Services without high traffic in the hallways. Lockdown lasted approximately 19 minutes and students resumed their normal schedule.
At Benjamin Franklin High School, safety is our top priority, and we work daily to ensure a positive environment for teaching and learning. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the school at
(410) 396-1373. Thank you for your continued support of our school community."
Yours in Service,
Heather Bradley
Principal
