Fredrick school students gather at table for lunch week

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced that the latest test samples found no traces of Cryptosporidium oocysts in the Druid Lake Reservoir. In September, DPW announced low levels of the parasite in the reservoir – read here for more and City Schools’ initial response.

Per DPW, the water remains safe for the public to consume. However, out of an abundance of caution at this time, the Maryland Department of Health and the Maryland Department of the Environment advises people with severely weakened immune systems to continue to drink bottled water or use filtered tap water provided using filters labeled to ANSI/NSF 53 or 58 standards.

City Schools uses water filters that meet the ANSI/NSF 53 or 58 standards. Schools with filtered water systems may resume using their water fountains and faucets. Schools that typically use bottled water will continue to do so.

Thank you for your patience as we have adjusted to this temporary challenge.
