Educators Honored During Teacher Appreciation Week
Amazing City Schools educators were honored with treats, gifts, visits and awards
No matter the school, grade or subject, City Schools educators are absolutely incredible! And while teachers’ leadership, dedication and love for their students deserves celebration all year long, our school communities stepped up to show their appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week in early May.
Check out a few examples of how schools across the district honored their educators:
Funnel Cakes and Ice Cream! At Moravia Park Elementary, teachers were treated to funnel cakes from the local Funnel Cake King who stopped by the school to surprise them. Watch a clip of the celebration here. And that’s not all, the Ice Queen food truck rolled by later in the week for some icy treats on a hot Spring day!
Queen of Kindergarten: At Thomas Johnson Elementary, Kindergarteners honored their teacher. Ms. Wendler, as “Queen of Kindergarten! See her fun get-up, made by her students.
Snacks, Snacks, Snacks: Thomas Jefferson Elementary/Middle School made sure its teachers didn’t go a day without ample snack options! Check out all the tasty offerings!
Mayor Scott in the Building(s): Mayor Brandon Scott joined the celebration of our educators by stopping by schools around the district to see what students are up to and celebrate their teachers. Find some photos of his visits.
Making Schools Sweet: Over at Bluford Drew Jemison Boys STEM Academy, teachers stopped by the custom candy bar to satisfy those sweet tooths. Take a look!
Dr. S Drops By: City Schools CEO Sonja Santelises made her way around the district to thank teachers for everything they do. Check out a few of her stops — at Morrell Park Elementary/Middle School and Holabird Academy!
