Dunbar High graduating senior and Western High alumni to be honored with 2023 CollegeBound awards

Congratulations to Jordan Flood, graduating senior of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, and Tracey Barbour-Gillett, alumni of Western High School, for being honored by the CollegeBound Foundation with the Scholar of the Year and Distinguished Alumni Award, respectively.

The CollegeBound Scholar of the Year is chosen from a pool of nominees from the CollegeBound Scholar of the Week series, which recognizes high-achieving students in CollegeBound-staffed Baltimore City public high schools. All nominees must be current seniors, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, be actively involved in one or more student organizations or athletic programs, and demonstrate outstanding leadership and contributions to the community.

This year’s Scholar of the Year awardee, Jordan Flood, is being recognized for his outstanding academic accomplishments, leadership, and community service. Jordan plans to attend New York University on a full scholarship in the fall.

The CollegeBound Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes CollegeBound alumni who have made significant contributions to society through their accomplishments, affiliations, and careers. Mrs. Tracey Barbour-Gillett graduated from Western High School, American University (BA, Political Science), and the University of Baltimore (MPA, Public Administration). She currently serves as Program Officer of Community Development at the Abell Foundation and has built a robust career in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Mrs. Barbour-Gillett also serves on multiple boards focusing on making Baltimore a more equitable city.

Jordan Flood and Mrs. Tracey Barbour-Gillett will be celebrated and will give speeches at the 35th annual CollegeBound Scholars’ Luncheon on Friday, July 28. The event will highlight the achievements of Baltimore City public school graduates over the last 35 years.
