• What is the Great Schools Charles Village initiative?

The Great Schools are Margaret Brent and Barclay Elementary/Middle, two strong public schools in a neighborhood voted one of the top ten in the US by the American Planning Association. These schools have great students, strong test scores, and more importantly strong teachers.

Student collaboration and community involvement is part of a normal day. Using the rich resources, history, art and architecture right here in Charles Village, children experience the community itself as a real-life textbook.

Students are trained in the traditional core subjects and engage in student-led, creative projects that foster critical thinking.

These two Great Schools in Charles Village are not just teaching students, they are teaching them about their communities and how to be responsible, productive community members.

Funding for this initiative is provided by the Goldseker Foundation.
