Dear Holabird Academy Students and Families,

As principal of Holabird Academy, it is my great pleasure to welcome everyone back for the 2018-2019 school year!  I am truly honored to be a part of a community where students, parents, teachers, staff, and community members care for one another and strive to build positive relationships that support our children’s academic and social growth.  We are excited to have our students back in our classrooms and hallways, filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning.  Our mission is to help every child feel welcomed, connected, and a part of our Holabird family.

This year, Holabird Academy is undergoing construction.  We will have a brand new school in two short years!  During these two years, there will be challenges.  It is important that as a community we work together to communicate issues and develop solutions to keep everyone safe and the construction progress on track.  We will be having several informational meetings about the construction process this year.  Thank you in advance for your support in communicating the importance of staying out of the posted construction site with your child.  This will ensure safety for our students and keep the construction moving forward.

Our school day at Holabird begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:40 p.m.  Due to construction, we will be entering and exiting through the Flower Doors (Cardiff St. entrance).  The front entrance will not be used.  Students will be picked up by their teachers at 8:55 a.m. Breakfast will be available for students from 8:40 a.m. to 8:55 a.m.  Students eating breakfast may enter the building at 8:40 a.m. and are to remain in the cafeteria until 8:55 a.m.  Please note that breakfast is for students only.

This year, all visitors will check in and check out in the main office.  All visitors will scan their ID and receive a Visitors Pass.  Visitors Passes will be turned in to the main office after each visit.  Thank you in advance for your support as we strive to ensure the safety of our students during the school day.

Holabird Academy is a uniform school.  Students should be in uniform every day.  Students in Grades Pre-K - 1 are required to wear a royal blue polo with khaki or navy bottoms.  Students in Grades 2-8 are required to wear a navy blue polo with khaki or navy bottoms.  Students in Grades 6-8 may also wear white or light blue button down Oxford shirts.  Students may not wear jeans or ripped clothing.  Skirts and shorts must be of an appropriate length.  Footwear must be school appropriate (no sandals, open toe shoes, flip-flops, or slides).  Each student will receive a free uniform shirt with a Holabird logo this year.  Additional shirts will be available for purchase for $5.

This year, we will have several informational sessions for parents and families. The purpose of these informational sessions will be to share information about our school policies as well as get feedback from all stakeholders.  Please mark your calendars for the following evenings:
