    Currently, the third graders are working onUnit 4: Multiplication and Area.  Please continue to practicemultiplication fluency with your children. 

    Math Recommendations:


    Counting Beans (5 groups of 4 beans, 5 x 4),multiplication


    Dividing Beans (I have 20 beans, I need todivide them into 4 equal groups. How many beans are in each group?)


    Skip Counting by 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s and 10’s(2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12…)


    Please continue to work with your child ontheir daily homework assignments. Parents are invaluable assets to a child’sacademic career. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.


    Students whoattend the after school math coaching, please be mindful that the coaching timehas been changed from 3-4PM to 3-3:45PM.  Thisis to ensure that students are picked up on time.


    Students will be bringing home winter breakwork packets. Please make sure your children are continuing to work on theirskills over the break! Enjoy the time off. J

    Ms. Stockwell

    Reading: This unit has been about cultures around the world. We have readabout many different cultures and have learned lots of interesting facts aboutthe cultures. Reading A-Z books have also been sent home. Please be readingthese books with your student each night.


    Writing:Students have started their research on a famous person for their informationalnarratives. After break they will begin drafting their biographies using thenotes they have taken during their research.


    LunchBunch: Each day three students are chosen to eat lunch with mein the classroom. This is being used as an incentive to follow classroom andschool rules as well as a way to get to know your child in a one on oneenvironment.  


    Tutoring: Studentscan stay after school most Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:00-3:45 if they arein need of extra reading assistance. If you are interested in having your childwork in small group setting using specific skills, please send a note allowingthem to stay and confirming pick up.


    I have seen lots of progress fromeach student and am looking forward to what is ahead in the new year!
