    Kristen Brown-Biography

    Khristen Brown was bom on May 27 in Baltimore, MD and attended
    Baltimore City public schools. She is married to Brian and has two
    daughters, Ayanna and Aleeyah, and three grandchildren.

    Education has been a foundation in Mrs. Brown’s life. Her mother taught
    school for three years, and also retired as a children’s librarian from the
    Enoch Pratt Library System after 20 years of service. Education has always
    been one of Mrs. Brown’s passions as well. She homeschooled her own
    daughters and her niece for five years during their primary school years,
    whereupon entering the school system, their achievements elevated them to
    accelerated levels.

    Mrs. Brown’s entire professional career has been spent in the field of
    Education. She has been teaching for over 20 years, with the last seventeen
    of those years at Hampden Elementary/Middle School, where she is
    currently serving as a kindergarten teacher.

    Her hobbies are bowling and drawing. She was a member of a bowling
    league for 20 years and was a certified bowling coach. She enjoys planting
    and tending to her herb garden in her leisure time.


    About Life Outside of School

    •        What is your dream vacation?

    My dream vacation would be a trip to St. Thomas, V.I. with my family for
    one month, spending each day on the beach eating delicious seafood and
    exotic fruits.

    •        How do you spend your summer breaks?

    I spend my summer breaks taking care of my grandchildren.

    •        If you won the lottery and decided to give up teaching, what would
    you do instead?

    If I won the lottery and decided to give up teaching, I would open a
    childcare center for infants.

    About School Life

    •        What accomplishment fills you with pride so far this year?

    I am most proud of my student’s desire and enthusiasm to reach the reading
    goals they set for themselves at the beginning of the school year.

    •        What’s the best thing about being a teacher?

    The best thing about being a teacher is having the opportunity to help
    students reach their fullest potential. I aspire to help instill a love of learning
    in my students and give them the tools they will need to build a strong
    foundation. It is my desire to help my students to always be the best that
    they can be
