In support of the leadership focus in our blueprint for success, City Schools is working to build and maintain a robust group of prequalified future principals to lead in our schools. Sustained recruitment and development of future administrators ensures that we place continued focus on the success of each of our students.
All internal and external candidates who wish to be considered for a future opportunity to serve as a principal must first be deemed eligible by the Human Capital Office through a series of comprehensive, rigorous activities to ensure they embody the disposition, character, and experience necessary to support whole students academically and in extraordinary ways.
Interested educators can initiate consideration for prequalification by completing an online application. Candidates must have five years of leadership or supervisory experience and must hold a valid Maryland State Department of Education certificate with an Administrator II endorsement.
Candidates who meet these minimum criteria may be invited to other selection activities, including our principal “assessment center.” Assessment center dates in 2019 are January 24, February 22, and April 26. Only candidates who are prequalified on this timeline through these processes will be eligible to be hired for principal roles as they become available.
An information session to share expectations, the application process, and next steps is scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2018, in Room 120 at 200 E. North Ave., from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Please attend or share this information with anyone you would encourage to consider future principal opportunities.
