I'm Airry Zhang and I've worked in the Chinese Immersion kindergarten class at BIA since the 2007-2008 school year, and this year, I will be teaching the Kindergarten Chinese Immersion students. I am using the tenet of the International Baccalaureate to illume, guide and encourage my students to open their minds, ask questions, find answers and to expose them to the whole world.
My teaching philosophy, developed from years of teaching Chinese language and Fine art and my own learning experiences, is based on the following principles:
- Students are different, so teachers should try different ways to teach to reach the best results.
- Encouragement sparks students?enthusiasm to learn, which is much more important than the content of the class.
I have stayed in Japan for 5 years and earned a master degree in education there. My experience in learning Japanese and English reinforced my belief in my two principles.
My satisfaction comes from students' interest in learning the Chinese language and culture. Though they sometimes have difficulty in grasping Chinese in the beginning, as long as they get to know and love the Chinese culture, they tend to be more likely to master the language in their future grades.Quick Links
