    Dear BIT Families,


    I hope you are having a wonderful summer and are also starting to look forward to the school year ahead. Here at Baltimore IT Academy, we are busy getting ready to welcome students on Monday, August 29, the first day of the new school year. (6th Grade Orientation will be on Tuesday, August 24, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the auditorium.)


    As we make plans for the coming year, we want to remind you about our school’s daily schedule: For 2016-17, the school day will start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 2:50 p.m. Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:30 a.m. which is the earliest student will be allowed to enter during the school year. Lunch will be served to all students at 11:51 a.m.-12:21 p.m. daily. Classes consist of Math, ELA and Intervention (year-long courses) and semester classes of Technology, Science, Social Studies, Art and Physical Education. All classes will be 75 minutes long with the exception Art and Physical Education, which are 40 minutes each.


    Please note the following changes that have been indicated on the website as it regards uniforms for grade levels for the upcoming school year. Students must wear:


    white polo top with school logo for 6th graders and khaki pants or skirts

    orange polo top with school logo for 7th graders and khaki pants or skirts

    royal blue polo top with school logo for 8th graders and khaki pants or skirts

    We will also be incorporating extended learning time with extended programming offered until 6:00 p.m. beginning in the fall. This will provide all students with access to additional instructional time to improve their skills in Math and English.  Information will be sent home about NEW afterschool program offerings including National Academic League, Robotics, NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship), Dance & Step Club, Future Makers, DJing and Fashion & Jewelry in addition to 3 sports including soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and track in the spring (all based on participation). We encourage any students interested in playing a sport this year to obtain their required physical as soon as possible.   We look forward to welcoming your child to an exciting new school year at 8:00AM on August 29!
