Q: How do I find out when the school is closed?

A: All preplanned closings mandated by the school system are noted in the school calendar and the monthly school newsletter. They will also appear on our web site.  Click on the calendar tab.

Q: What are the school hours?

A: School begins at 7:45 p.m. Students may enter the cafeteria at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast. Students not having breakfast should remain outside, at their designated locations, until the bell rings, where upon the teachers will escort them into the building. Students must be seated in their classrooms by 8:00 a.m., when morning announcements start. Students arriving past 8:15 a.m. must get a late pass in the lobby of the main building. School ends at 2:40 p.m.

Q: Are students required to wear uniforms?

    A. Yes.  The school uniform for each grade can be located under the school information section.

Q: What is the attendance policy?

A: Students are responsible for arriving at school on time every day and for attending every class. Parents are responsible for making sure their children attend school every day, for maintaining regular contact with school, and for sending a note to school explaining the reason for absence or lateness.

Q: How much do breakfast and lunch cost?

A: Breakfast is free for all students. All Students will receive FREE Lunch.

Q: What is the policy for visiting the school?

A: All visitors must enter through the main doors at the front of the building. All visitors are required to sign in the lobby of the main buliding and get a Visitor sticker. If you would like to visit a teacher, please make an appointment prior to coming to school.

Q: What is the school’s inclement weather policy in case of snow or other similar weather conditions?

A: Baltimore City Public Schools recognizes that winter snow, ice, or other weather conditions can make it unsafe for students, parents, and staff to travel to and from school. The following procedure will be used on school days when weather conditions warrant: The City Schools Department of Facilities, in conjunction with the City’s Department of Transportation and the Mass Transit Administration, will complete a preliminary assessment of the situation by 4:30 a.m. After considering this assessment, and the latest weather forecasts, the City Schools Chief Executive Officer will decide whether to open schools on schedule, delay opening by two hours, or cancel school for the day. This decision will be announced to local television and radio stations and posted on the City Schools web site around 5:00 a.m. School officials may decide to delay the opening of schools by two hours if travel conditions are potentially unsafe at 5:00 a.m. but are expected to improve during the day. They may also delay openings if acceptable travel conditions exist at 5:00 a.m., but weather forecasts predict that conditions may soon worsen. In the event of a delayed opening, all half-day, morning Pre-k and kindergarten programs will be cancelled and school breakfast will not be served. A two-hour delay announcement may be followed by an announcement that City Schools is now closed for the day, if a reassessment of conditions so warrants. The decision to close schools after previously announcing a two-hour school delay will be announced to the news media and posted on the City Schools web site by 8:00 a.m.

Q: What if weather conditions worsen during the day and students are at school?

A: Schools will open only if City Schools believes students and staff will be able to travel safely to their destinations. If weather conditions worsen during the school day, the City Schools may announce an early dismissal. The early dismissal of schools requires that schools close two and one-half hours earlier than the regularly scheduled dismissal time. All half-day, afternoon pre-K and kindergarten programs, and all extended-day and after-school programs, including interscholastic athletic events, will be cancelled. Lunch must be served in all schools. Any decision to dismiss schools early will be announced by 10:00 a.m. to the news media.
