    Greetings HPEMS Families,

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! I am looking forward to another excellent year of student growth and success.  Our entire instructional and administrative teams are extremely excited to begin this school year working towards our mission of providing all of our students with engaging and meaningful learning experiences that will transform them into creative, reflective, and analytical problem-solvers who are compassionate and prepared to compete and persevere in an evolving world. We know that with the support of all of our families and community partners this mission will be accomplished!

This school year we will focus on S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and equity for every HPEMS child.  Our priorities for this year will focus on the following 4 areas:

    Quality Instruction

    • We will continue to use real-time student data to differentiate for individual student needs and develop inter-disciplinary projects and task-based units.
    • Every student will receive both Math and Reading Intervention daily.
    • Provide increased opportunities and experiences for students to compete academically and showcase their learning and individual growth.
    Climate & Facilities
    • Promote an emotionally safe learning environment and continue to develop caring and compassionate individuals by engaging in   daily Mindfulness activities and Restorative Practices.
    • Continue our monthly PBIS incentive programs and monthly and quarterly student recognition programs, using Class Dojo.
    • Provide strategic resources and support for teachers and families around supporting the whole-child, including peer-mediation and social group sessions.
    Parent & Community Engagement
    • Establish a functioning Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) operated by families.
    • Expand our Experience Corp Literacy Program to increase volunteers to support the K-5 Reading program.
    • Promote an inclusive community culture by hosting monthly academic, socio-emotional, and financial literacy workshops for   families hosted by our School Family Council and Community School Team.
