The Achievement and Accountability Office oversees the integrity of test administration, reports on data, provides data-based analytics and program evaluation, develops tools for measuring school effectiveness, and integrates and shares knowledge about schools.

    Knowledge Management is responsible for supporting the integrity and reporting of information from City Schools’ data systems. Staff capture current and historical data, presenting it in integrated dashboards and reports for school and district staff. Training and support on use of data systems are also provided.

    Research Services ensures consistency and accuracy of data used for developing guidance, oversees data analytics, manages data files, coordinates verification processes and ensures submission of required data to the Maryland State Department of Education. Staff coordinates and conducts program evaluation, strengthens the quality and accuracy of research and data produced by external parties (see also information about data requests, IRBs, and conducting research in City Schools), and manages gathering perceptual feedback from schools, district offices and partners.

    School Evaluation and Accountability/Effectiveness develops tools for evaluation of teachers, school leaders and schools. Staff develops and disseminates tools to track and measure effectiveness and manages federal, state and local accountability models.

    Student Assessment supports distribution and administration of state and district assessments, manages the integrity of test administration and conducts investigations to ensure assessments are administered with fidelity. In addition, staff contributes to the district’s implementation of the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards by assisting in implementation of assessments aligned to the new standards.
