Federal Hill Preparatory Academy

#45

Federal Hill Academy (Prep) encourages both personal and academic achievement and challenges students to excel in their studies and in their personal development. An innovative project-based learning approach integrates content across core subjects, with dynamic semi-annual student-led Celebration of Learning presentations. Prep has been recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education with a 4-star (out of possible 5) designation and an Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (EGATE) award. As an intensive learning site for literacy, PREP has a dedicated literacy coach to support teachers as they improve instruction in English language arts. PREP is a culturally diverse neighborhood school that offers individualized learning for all its students, from Discover with Me and Let’s Grow (3-year-old and Pre-K inclusion programs), Title I programming, and programming for gifted students. The learning environment is safe, comfortable, and visually appealing. Prep also offers a STEM period as part of its curriculum (in collaboration with Digital Harbor Foundation, home of Maker Camp and Nanolab) and arts integration.
