A Community School where success is built on character, creativity and community

Margaret Brent Elementary Middle School is a small school with a diverse, family like environment that educates the whole child with a focus on Character, Creativity, and Community.  The school was named for Margaret Brent, the first female practicing lawyer in colonial Maryland.  Today, the student population reflects the varied social, ethnic and socio-economic groups in the communities of Charles Village, Harwood and Remington.

Margaret Brent Elementary/Middle School is a Community School in partnership with Strong City Baltimore which connects the school to resources in the community.  Through this collaboration, the school is a working example of the community and school working together to provide the best possible environment for the personal development of each child.
To support an arts-based approach to teaching and learning, Margaret Brent has established a partnership with the Johns Hopkins School of Education (SOE). This partnership involves incorporating arts integrated instructional practices throughout all classrooms. Teachers receive training from a SOE’s Arts Integration Specialist on how to infuse the arts into the curriculum. In school year 17-18, a Partnership Coordinator will join the school to identify arts related programming opportunities for students.
