About Dr. Rayner Browne Academy

Dr. Rayner Browne Academy converted to a Baltimore City Public Schools public charter school in 2007. The school is named after the late Dr. Grafton Rayner Browne, a member of the Baltimore Chirurgical Society, the Monumental City Medical Society, and the American Medical Society. The school serves 213 African-American students in grades pre-kindergarten through eight who live in the Madison/east neighborhood of Baltimore City.

Vision:

The Dr. Rayner Browne learning community will ensure that all students are equipped with the necessary attitudes, skills and proficiencies to soar to higher levels of success in the 21st century.

Mission:

To accelerate student progress through effective implementation of the School Improvement Plan, focusing on quality instruction, maintaining an orderly learning environment, and sustaining a culture of excellence.

Dr. Rayner Browne Academy Partners

• Circle K of the Johns Hopkins University: Circle K is a volunteer service organization based at Hopkins. Their "Bring a Smile to a Child" project provides Christmas presents for all Dr. Rayner Browne students.

• Best Friends Foundation: The Best Friends Foundation strives to provide a national network of programs dedicated to the physical and emotional well-being of adolescents.

• Rose Street Community Center: The Rose Street Community Center is a "street-corner ministry" that operates out of two row homes in East Baltimore.

• Baltimore Freedom Academy: An "innovation" high school that encourages the positive transformation of urban youth.
