• Principal's Letter

    Dear Families,

I believe that education is the key to ignite social change, and it is in that spirit that I welcome you all to the 2015-2016 school year at Elmer A. Henderson: A Johns Hopkins Partnership School (HHPS).   HHPS builds upon the proud traditions of the East Baltimore community, and blends them with the opportunities of a redeveloped neighborhood, including expanded business, scientific, and cultural opportunities. This year, we are going to continue to build upon the successes of the past six years as we strive to impact the social, emotional, physical, and academic development of our students by personalizing our instructional approach.

This handbook contains important information concerning the expectations and procedures students and families are expected to follow as members of the HHPS community.  It also includes pertinent policies and calendars with important events that are scheduled every year.

Family involvement continues to be one of our greatest sources of pride. There is overwhelming evidence showing involvement in your child’s school directly relates to his or her achievement. It is crucial that parents/guardians provide a place for their children to do homework, look over their classwork, ask “what was your favorite part of school today?”, attend Back to School Night, meet the teachers and attend school events. The list is endless, but the payoff for your child is great. I also welcome your input on how we can work together to provide your child with the best education possible.

Thank you for choosing Henderson Hopkins!

    Sincerely,

    Katrina Foster
