•  Greetings to our Parents, Students and Guardians!

bookwormWelcome to our Third Grade Section...

BIA creates a culture of high expectations for our students’ education. We strive to develop our students’ academic and character growth.
Our 3rd grade students continue their journey of learning in their their target language. Whether they learn in French, Spanish, Russian or Chinese, they continue to receive instruction in the Maryland State and Baltimore City Schools curriculum standards.
We are also proud to be in candidate status for the International Baccalaureate World organization. We have embraced its philosophy to develop international-minded young people through implementing the IB's Primary Years Program (PYP). The PYP is uses student-centered learning approach that encourages critical thinking skills, collaboration and global awareness.
Most of our third graders are in their third year at BIA. They have become skilled in their target language and more experienced with student-centered learning. Our third graders are beginning their school year working on the PYP Theme, "Where We Are in Place and Time" with the central idea, “We adopt many things from ancient civilizations.”  Students will explore the lifestyles of different ancient civilizations and find similarities and differences to the way we currently live. They will look at the structure, styles and items used thousands of years ago and discover that many things we use now have their roots in ancient civilizations. This is an interesting unit for children that is full of discovery for them.
We will always keep you informed of what we are learning in the classroom; this website is designed as a part of our information process.
