• Greetings to our Parents, Students and Guardians!

Boy with Globe                            Welcome to our Fourth Grade Section...

BIA creates a culture of high expectations for our students’ education. We strive to develop our students’ academic and character growth.
Our students continue their journey learning in their their target languages. Whether they learn in French, Spanish, Russian or Chinese, they continue to receive instruction in the Maryland State, Common Core, and Baltimore City Schools curriculum standards.
We are also proud to be an International Baccalaureate World School. We have embraced its philosophy to develop international-minded young people through implementing the IB's Primary Years Program (PYP). The PYP is uses student-centered learning approaches that encourage critical thinking skills, collaboration and global awareness.
Most of our fourth graders are in their fourth year at BIA. They have become skilled in their target language and more experienced with student-centered learning. Our Russian Immersion 4th and 5th graders are currently working on the PYP Theme, "Who We Are" with the central idea, Social problems impact the health of a community  In this unit, students will explore local and global social problems that negatively impact communities. They will identify all the factors that are impacted in communities, to include economically, socially, culturally and emotionally. Students will put their heads together and see if they can find solutions to the social problems.

We are committed to working with our parents to achieve our students’ success. We will always keep you informed of what we are learning in the classroom; this website is designed as a part of our information process.
