After-School Snack Program

Nutrition Services Image

The After School Snack Program is designed to provide nutritious snacks for students under the age of 18 who participate in supervised after school programs. Good nutrition is essential to physical and cognitive development and the after school snacks help students get the nutrition they need to learn, play and grow.

Eligible after school programs must provide regular scheduled educational or enrichment activities in a structured environment. Competitive sports are not considered educational enrichment activities. However, after school programs that include sports as part of their enrichment program are eligible.

Snacks served in this program must meet the nutritional requirements of the United States Department of Agriculture. Each snack contains at least two food items.
There are currently over 200 after school programs operating in our schools and they participate in the After- School Snack Program.

If you have an after school enrichment program located in a Baltimore City public school and would like to enhance your Program by providing nutritious snacks, please contact the Nutrition Services Department, Operations Specialist @410.396.8767.The Operations Specialist will also share information on specific reporting and recordkeeping requirements to maintain federal Program compliance.
