    Update on 2017-18 graduation requirements and bridge plans

    Please ensure that all staff and 12th-grade students are aware of the following graduation requirements for 2017-18.

    Course

    Assessment

    Algebra I, successful completion

    • Participation in relevant state assessment (passing score not required) 

    English II, successful completion

    • Participation in relevant state assessment (passing score not required)

    Biology, successful completion

    • Passing score in the Biology HSA in 2016-17 or prior (or combined passing score with other HSA requirements*) or
    • Participation in the Biology HSA in 2016-17 (passing score not required) or
    • Participation in the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA) in 2017-18 (passing score not required)
    • Students who have not passed the Biology HSA and did not sit for that test in 2016-17 must participate in the MISA in 2017-18

    American Government, successful completion

    • Passing score in the American Government HSA (or combined passing score with other HSA requirements*) or
    • Completion of American Government bridge project

    Information about bridge projects is available on Blackboard (under Teaching and Learning à Extended Learning à Bridge). All schools with 12th-grade students must identify a staff member to serve as the bridge coordinator responsible for implementation of the Government bridge plan for 2017-18. Bridge coordinators are required to attend a meeting on Monday, October 16, or Thursday, October 19, to receive information necessary for the successful implementation of bridge projects. Meetings will be held in room 301 at the district office (200 E. North Ave.) from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
