School Organization

Policies Concerning School Organization

Edison partnership schools are organized to facilitate teaching and learning.  Our organizational model is based on principles that have been shown to ensure highly-effective schools:

  • A clear and ambitious sense of purpose
  • Clear expectations for all stakeholders in the learning community
  • Strong academic leadership from the Principal, Academy Directors, Instructional Support Team, and Lead Teachers.
  • High expectations for teachers and cutting edge professional development.
  • Administrators and teachers ensure that the needs of every student are met.
  • Differentiated Instruction
  • Advanced Population
  • PBIS certified site
  • Instructional Support Team
  • Rigorous and data driven instruction

Baltimore City/EdisonLearning is committed to Professional Learning Communities that are collaborative and dedicated to serving our students in the most responsible way possible.   Therefore, school buildings are divided into” schools within a school,” or academies, which provide a two-three year experience for students.  Academies are Edison’s largest unit of school organization.  They are meant to be distinct programmatically and organizationally. Teachers and students work primarily within, rather than across, academies. Curriculum standards are set by the academy. Curriculum themes should be distinguishable by academy.

Classes should be flexible in size and composition, depending on instructional goals.  Our school leadership team is driven by teachers, administrators and support staff. This includes representation from our school parent liaison, student support manager and counselor. This comprehensive team helps us with the uniqueness of our programs.
