Emergency preparednessAll principals
All principals and assistant principals are required to complete a site-based emergency safety plan at the beginning of the school year; the signed plan must be uploaded to TSS, and a copy placed in each school’s 2017-18 emergency plan binder. In addition, principals must hold a staff meeting within one month of the beginning of the school year to review the plan, drills, and emergency preparedness exercises.
Please note that all schools are required to conduct and document 5 to 8 fire drills, 6 emergency preparedness drills, and 2 bus evacuations during the school year. Not less than one emergency drill should be conducted every month a school is in session.
Safety is our top priority, and the district takes emergency preparedness extremely seriously. All principals are expected to review the Critical Response and School Emergency Management Guide and to complete all required actions. Please find more information and links to the guide, emergency plan template, and drill log online at City Schools Inside.
