Pilot use of special education monitoring toolAll leaders
The Academic Services Monitoring Tool provides a place to document and record information about the delivery of special education supplementary aids, services, and accommodations that support annual goals for students with disabilities. It will be piloted in several schools to determine how IEP services are implemented at the classroom level, and to inform development opportunities and support for teachers and other school-based staff.
School leaders and teachers will be notified if a student in their school or class has been selected for a 30- to 40-minute observation by a special education liaison using the tool. The liaison will also schedule debrief times to provide feedback about the session. Please note that this tool will support strategic planning at the district office, but will not be used in any formal observation tied to staff evaluation.
