    Dear Parents/Guardians,

I want to extend to you and your child ,the warmest welcome to my classroom for this new school year 2017-2018. My name is Maribel Brador Burgos and I will be teaching Mathematics and Science for Middle School Spanish Immersion at BIA. This will be my second year at Baltimore International Academy. I love teaching and it will be a pleasure to teach your child and make learning fun and responsible for him/her. I ask for your patience as English is not my first language, but I am learning so we can have better communication. I believe communication is key to establishing good teamwork between parents, teacher, and students. I hope I can count on your support.

My background: I have 12 years of experience as an educator, specifically in the area of secondary mathematics, which I taught for the last 10 years in Puerto Rico; however, I am originally from the Dominican Republic. I have a degree in Engineering in Computer Science of the Dominican Republic. I have my teacher certification for grades 7-12 in Mathematics in Puerto Rico and a Master's Degree in curriculum in Mathematics 7-12.

For some of you, it will be the first time working with me and for others not, but I hope to make it positive, good, and innovative experience for everyone. I thank you for your support and trust that I will give your child the best education he/she deserves, and I hope that in turn they follow through with the school’s and classroom’s expectations, even as challenges arise.

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique and each child learns differently. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help children discover their own individuality and work together with them to maximize it. I believe in practical experiences and creative learning.

I will maintain contact via e-mail messages and send information home to keep you and your child updated with tests, projects, homework, etc. To ensure effective communication, please fill out the contact worksheet with your updated information.

Please, if at any time, you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me. You can contact me via email at mbradorburgos@bcps.k12.md.us.

    Thanks for your consideration.

    Ms. Maribel Brador Burgos
