• Free influenza immunizations

All elementary and middle school principals and assistant principals / Deadline: October 13

City Schools and Health Hero will provide free, on-site flu immunizations to elementary and elementary/middle school students from November 14 to 18. To participate, schools must receive parental permission slips for at least 50 students by Tuesday, October 13.

School staff should review the permission slips for completeness and accuracy. Participating schools must reserve a location for administration for approximately 90 minutes which includes a table, four chairs, and two medium trash cans.

This is an excellent opportunity for students to receive flu immunizations without having to leave school and miss instructional time, and receiving the immunization will lessen future absences due to influenza.

The number of students who can receive the vaccine is only limited by the number of permission slips that are received. In 2015-2016, more than 2,000 students received flu vaccines from the staff of Health Hero and an increased number is anticipated this year.
