• SY 2016-17 Bridge Plan for Academic Validation update

    High school principals and assistant principals / Deadline: October 6

    The following graduation requirements are in place for 2016-17:

    • All 12th-grade students must successfully complete the Algebra I and English II courses, and must have participated in the relevant state assessments for those courses; students are not required to earn a passing score on the assessments or participate in Bridge to meet graduation requirements.
     
    • All 12th-grade students must successfully complete the Biology course and earn a passing score on the Biology HSA, or complete Biology Bridge projects. (As noted previously, the State Board voted to change this requirement, but the decision is currently pending final review and approval. Additional information will be shared when made available by MSDE).
     
          o Students may also meet the HSA graduation requirements with a combined score. Combined score options are below:
     
                 Add BIO and ALG HSA for a combined 812
                 Add BIO and ENG HSA for a combined 796
                 Add a combined BIO and GOV HSA for a combined 794
                 Add BIO, ALG, and ENG HSA for a combined 1208
                 Add BIO, ALG, and GOV HSA for a combined 1206
                 Add BIO, ENG, and GOV HSA for a combined 1190
     
    • Students who entered 9th grade in 2013-14 or later must successfully complete the American Government course and earn a passing score on the American Government HSA, or complete American Government Bridge projects.
     
          o Students may also meet the HSA graduation requirements with a combined score. Combined score options are below:
     
                 Add GOV and ALG HSA for a combined 806
                 Add GOV and ENG HSA for a combined 790
                 Add GOV, ALG, and ENG HSA for a combined 1202
                 Add GOV, ALG, and BIO HSA for a combined 1206
     
    All schools with 12th-grade students must identify a Bridge coordinator to implement the school’s Biology and Government Bridge plan during this school year . Bridge coordinators are required to attend one informational meeting to receive necessary information for the successful implementation of Bridge. Information sessions will be held Monday, October 10 and Thursday October 13 at District Office from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Please send the name of your school’s bridge coordinator to Ronda Welsh, coordinator of extended learning, at RWelsh@bcps.k12.md.us by Thursday, October 6.
