    Dear Kindergarten Families,

On behalf of Baltimore International Academy, I would like to welcome you to Russian immersion program. My name is Yana Willey, and I will be your child’s teacher this school year.

I was born and raised in Russia where I attended Pyatigorsk Linguistic University. Upon immigrating to the United States, I have obtained my Bachelors degree in ESOL from Salisbury University. Being a bilingual myself, I know first-hand about the demands that learning a foreign language entails. I have not always been an easy-go-getter when it came to second language acquisition. In retrospect, it was my English teacher’s attitude that contributed the most to the change of my motivation to learn a foreign language. As a result, I decided to dedicate my career to learning and teaching languages.

I want to become such a change for your child. I intend to use my passion for foreign languages to ignite your child’s innate ability to acquire them in order to prepare him or her for global citizenship.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by calling the school at (410)426-3650 or sending an email to yvwilley@bcps.k12.md.us.

My classroom follows the school-wide open-door policy, so you are always welcome to stop by as well.

    Sincerely,

    Yana Willey
